Who Am I?

  • My counseling career started at a community mental health agency, where I still am today serving as a therapist, and clinical supervisor. I have worked in private practice part-time for the last 8 years. I also have been an Adjunct Faculty at Cuyahoga Community College teaching Sociology for the last nine years.
  • As a therapist I provide an open and safe space for exploring and expressing feelings and processing thoughts and experiences. My personality is open, outgoing and warm. My goal is for my client to feel comfortable and authentic so that they can move forward in a healthy and fulfilling way.
  • I believe that the therapeutic relationship is most beneficial when there is some personality compatibility between client and therapist. I understand that may not always be the case and am more than happy to help you seek out the best fit for your needs.
  • I have a specialization in Early Childhood Mental Health and enjoy working with children, adolescents, families and adults. I have interests in adjustments concerns, blended families, lifecourse transitions, gender/sexuality issues, marital issues, feminist theory, and communication issues to name a few.

What sets me apart?

My theoretical and academic background focuses on systemic forces impacting individuals, which ties into my core belief in the need to explore   structure versus agency (essentially individual choice/free will versus the social forces) in our lives.  My work not only will explore the impact of the family system, but societal impacts as well.

I use a variety of techniques grounded in Family Systems theories, as well as Cognitive Behavioral techniques with an awareness of societal dynamics to help others gain insight and a sense of control over their lives.

My focus is taking a holistic approach to support growth, insight and greater satisfaction.

I believe it is vital that for deeper insight, self-awareness and change to be aware of individual, familial, cultural and societal influences on our identity.

Neither the life of an individual nor the history of a society can be understood without understanding both. –C. Wright Mills
